07:29 am - 1 Kings 19:11-13
11 And he said to him: Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord: and behold the Lord passeth,
and a great and strong wind before the Lord, overthrowing the mountains, and breaking the rocks in pieces: but the Lord is not in the wind.

And after the wind, an earthquake: but the Lord is not in the earthquake.

12 And after the earthquake, a fire: but the Lord is not in the fire.

And after the fire, a whistling of a gentle air.

13 And when Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his mantle, and coming forth, stood in the entering in of the cave, and behold a voice unto him, saying: What dost thou here, Elijah?

Wow. That's really great. Thanks for going to the trouble for us.
Yesterday I heard a sermon on how we judge God to be slow and make our own decisions at the worst possibe times. We need to trust God to get us through things His way, including at His time. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/76914997/804434) | | From: | josparke |

Thanks. Yeah, judging God, heh. God was in the peace that came after, and Elijah recognized that. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/41695511/270258) | | From: | dondlion |

Often when the peace comes we say to God, if anything, "It's about time!" And then we forget everything. We are ungrateful by nature, I think, but redeemable by His grace.
I really enjoy your LJ. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/76914997/804434) | | From: | josparke |

Yeah, I had been thinking of those verses since they happened. They've always helped explain God and disasters to me. I decided to finally search yahoo news and find images to go with it. wow..
thanks for sharing that.

*hugs* hope your doing good in Houston, a lot is going on there :) yes there is without a doubt.
I'm an emotional wreck, especially after volunteering... Not sure of what direction to go in.. but I'll be okay. A beautiful visual meditation, Josh. I quoted the text from I Kings in my homily this weekend. You make the point creatively with the photos. Thanks. yeah, you might want to mention this one too :) Which one did you talk about? Sorry, I should have been more specific; it was the I Kingd 19.11--13 - the same passage you were working with. I think your photo meditation is more effective, though it would be difficult to do that in a huge, very bright church. Again, thanks...it made my day. awesome :) what did you say about it? Hi, Joah - my point was similar to what I saw in your set of photos. The question for many is "where was God?" in this disaster. The answer: God is not in the hurricane, the destruction, the flooding, the looting, the murders. God is in the "might murmuring voice" of the people who are praying, in the cries of the victims, in the survivors and in those who come to their aid, who rescue the stranded, shelter the homeless, protect the vulnerable, bury the dead. And the strength for such a response is the fact the "Christ is in our midst". I think the pictures say it better than word.s Fr John ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/76914997/804434) | | From: | josparke |

*hugs* the pics or what? Just the whole post was so moving.... with the Bible verses that seemed to go right along with it... I cry at Hallmark commercials, granted, but this thing is so close to home that everything makes me cry. :)
I'm okay, though, just all silly and emotional. :) ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/76914997/804434) | | From: | josparke |

yeah, I almost cry when I get to the kitty :( Me too... that one's a real tear-jerker... Incredible pictures-- thanks for steering me back when I missed it-- I was just skimming this morning, (and am again since I don't know how much battery power we have left...)
I love the kitten-- so innocent and so trusting looking. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/76914997/804434) | | From: | josparke |
